Easy paced “Let’s Go Xtra” social ride "via Grand Surrey Canal" and Burgess park using many cycle paths and quiet routes, green spaces where possible with a brief refreshment stop along the route, taking in the local history and historic buildings along the route including the Peckham arm of the canal, this is a longer ride than our regular 2 hr ride, around 23 miles this "Xtra" ride starts at 9.30am sharp, aiming to reach back just after 1pm all being well and pace of ride and riders.

We will be riding out via Blackheath & Deptford, route C10 to Burgess park, passing many places of interest along the way, we will have a short refreshment stop and comfort break at Burgess park, it’s advisable you bring your own refreshments however there is a small coffee outlet here. We will wait for all riders, no one is left behind, and on the return through Lewisham, there are no major hills just the usual climb back into Bexley. Why not Come along and join the fun. This ride starts/finishes from Danson park (Danson House).

Suitable for all bike types & level of rider - Please ensure you can cycle the mileage of this ride.

Please ensure your bike is in roadworthy condition and that the tyres are fully inflated and ideally you have at least one spare inner-tube and that your seat is at the correct height also that you are dressed for the weather on the day, and that you have tools suitable for your bike.

For each of our social rides, Let’s Go Cycling have committed to planting 5 trees to help tackle climate change.
Our rides are advertised on other websites & platforms, we usually have over 10 riders on each ride – So please do not be put off if no one has signed onto or registered for this ride.

All routes have been checked and risk assessed prior to the rides going ahead.

Covid-19 and safety info - Please respect others.

Riders are advised to bring face masks in case there is an incident where wearing a mask would be appropriate, hand sanitiser is also advised. Bring your own tools and equipment should the worst happed, do not touch other riders bikes or equipment, (respect others) don’t attend if you have been told to self-isolate or have covid symptom’s, please Inform the co -ordinator/leader if you develop symptoms and test positive after the ride by emailing: [email protected] Your bike must be in road worthy condition and tyres correctly inflated, you should have at least one spare innertube, and ensure that your seat is at the correct height for your comfort and riding position, and that you are dressed for the weather on the day, please inform the leader in confidence if you are taking any prescribed medication of have any medical conditions as this info will help greatly if first aid is required. Please bring water and any refreshments required for the ride.
