Starting point

Glamorgan
CF11 9LB

This ride mainly follows Phil's first training ride run back in January but with a different start point.

Starting at Pedal Power in Bute Park, this ride will take you along leafy paths in Bute Park, up as far as Hailey Park where we join the road, head through Llandaff and Whitchurch, across Heath and into the lanes near Pontprennau where the hills start!

After a few ups and downs we turn around at Bassaleg and follow Sustrans Route 4 to Draethen where we take a shortcut to Caerphilly, rejoining route 4 through the residential areas back to the main road. We'll cross the road and take a climb up Blackbrook Road to the Black Cock Inn, then coast down into Tongwynlais.

We can cross the A470 for a final climb through Morganstown and into Radyr then follow the A4119 down to Llandaff Cathedral and back into Bute Park.

Using a mixture of off-road trails, road and country lanes. 2372 ft of climbing on this ride, but we will take our time and regroup after the hills.

Please come prepared with drinks and a spare inner tube just in case. The weather forecast currently says dry and about 8 degrees. Coffee stop to be decided.
