(0) ReviewsA journey through Liverpool's finest parks, along the banks of the River Mersey to the Pier Head, and the iconic architecture of The Three Graces, the cruise terminal at Princes Landing stage, and the fabulous architecture of the Royal Albert Dock. The Pier Head is also the focal point of Eurovision 2023 being held in and around the Pier Head, Kings Dock and Albert Dock. On the return journey, time permitting, we will visit some of the landmarks made famous by The Beatles including the venue where it all started, their family homes, Strawberry Fields and Eleanor Rigby's grave. Something for everyone!
This ride is suitable for hybrid bikes (fitted with road and off-road tyres), mountain bikes and road bikes and is mostly on hard surface roads, cycle paths and park paths.
We will take a refreshment break at Ryde Cycle Cafe in the busy Baltic Quarter adjacent to the old Cain's Brewery. If further refreshment is needed (or ice cream or comfort break) we will also stop at the cafe/ice cream parlour at Caldertones Park.
All riders will be required to wear a helmet and carry spare inner tubes and the means to be able to repair a puncture (assistance will be provided if required). Don't forget some money for the cafe stop!
It is essential that everybody enjoys the ride so it will be at an approximate average of 10mph, but the speed will be determined by the overall pace of the group. There will be a few stops particularly around the Pier Head and Albert Dock to see if we can spot the ' Crimean Soloveiko Songbirds' on display and other features relating to the Eurovision song contest and, of course, the Kings Dock arena where the competition will take place next week. Also on the way back, we will take in some of the Beatles ‘memorable’ places and attractions and there will be plenty of photo opportunities. Always remember though, we will never leave anyone behind!
