Bootle Leisure Centre

This will be a grand day out adventure incorporating the fresh sea air, traffic free cycle paths and lots of nature. We begin by cycling out towards the coastal path, past the Gormley statues and through Crosby breathing in the fresh Irish Sea air. Continuing on the cycle paths we filter through Formby, around the Ainsdale Sand Dunes National Nature Reserve and up to Ainsdale itself. We continue on the cycle paths all the way to Southport where a much deserved refreshment stop can be had admiring the picturesque shoreline views. On the return we venture back via the loop line NCN62, miles of traffic free paths, to Netherton. From there we cycle along the Leeds - Liverpool Canal, past Rimrose Valley Country Park and back to the start. You don’t have to be the next Bradley Wiggins, but you’ll need to know your way around a bike and be fairly fit to take part in our Challenging rides. If you’re comfortable riding with other people and fancy a fresh challenge, these rides are perfect for you. They start at around twenty miles long, and are paced at between 11 and 12 miles an hour.
