Long climb Learney hill

Riding on mainly quiet back roads we head to Banchory then Inchmarlo, where the climbing begins, but that is just the warm up. When we reach Torphins we will be heading over the Learney which is a long, long hill with no flat bits from bottom to top. There is a fantastic decent down to the cafe where we will stop for refreshments before heading back to Westhill via Echt.

This is not for beginners. There is a long, long climb on this ride, and several shorter ones. We head to Banchory, Inchmarlo then Torphins where we start the big climb. There is a reward of a lovely downhill free wheel for several miles, but you do have to work for and earn this.

Mostly quiet back roads with very short section on a busier one just outside Banchory.

Refreshments can be before the climb at Platform 22 in Torphins, which is lovely but I recommend after the climb at the Treehouse, purely because the hard bit is over by then.

Please wear a helmet as I have a NO HELMET = NO RIDE policy. Bring money for your coffee or lunch. Please dress appropriately for the time of year, remember the weather can change suddenly
