Starting point

Midlothian
EH16 5TX

We will ride from Cameron Toll through Inch Park and on through the Hermitage of Braid, stopping for refreshments at the Lodge Coffee House at end of the Hermitage of Braid. From here, we cycle up Braid Road before turning off onto a path through woods at the side of Mortonhall golf course and on to Stanedykehead. We then cycle through Liberton Park and the Malbet Park housing estate to join Ellen’s Glen Road. We then take Moredunvale Road and go behind the Royal Infirmary to reach Little France Park. This will lead us to Craigmillar Castle Park and then back through Inch Park to Cameron Toll.

Route rating

0 stars (0) Reviews

Starting from Cameron Toll, we head along the Hermitage of Braid before looping around the edge of the Braid Hills, returning to Cameron Toll via Craigmillar Castle Park.

The route is mostly on cycle / shared use paths, cycle lanes and quiet roads, with a couple of short sections of busier road. There are some parts where the path is gravel and/or pothled, and two short sections that might be muddy. Therefore the route is not suitable for skinny tyres. There are a number of hills, but none are too long or steep and we won’t leave anyone behind.

We will stop at The Lodge Coffee House at the end of the Hermitage of Braid for refreshments. We will also stop at points along the way to catch our breath.

Helmets are strongly advised. Bring a payment card if you wish to buy any refreshments at our stop and a bike lock if you can, but don’t worry if you don’t have one as we can lock bikes to each other. Also bring a spare inner tube and have planned a means of getting home in the event of mechanical breakdown.

We especially welcome newbies!
