This Sunday’s ride will leave The Leggers Inn and head through Dewsbury to the Spen Valley Greenway.
When we reach Heckmondwyke on the outward journey we will cross over onto the Ringway until we reach Cleckheaton.
We will then cut back onto the Greenway and continue up to Low Moor.
We can decide on the day whether to take in the slight detour of the Woodlands loop, or to ride through Wyke on the way back down to Leggers.

This reasonably level ride travels along the Heckmondwyke Ringway and the longer Spen Valley Greenway. There is a slight upward gradient from Ravensthorpe up to Low Moor but nothing that could really be described as a hill.

The ride is predominantly along traffic-free greenways though there are sections of urban roads. We will encounter a reasonable amount of traffic on those roads so riders will need to be confident in those situations. Mountain bikes, hybrids and road bikes should be ok on this ride.

Helmets are mandatory on all Kirklees Riders outings. Please bring a spare inner tube suitable for the tyres on the bike you are riding. I am sure by now that you are all familiar with the latest government guidelines relating to social distancing. If in doubt please make sure you familiarise yourself between now and Sunday’s ride. Please also ensure you bring the anti-bacterial agents necessary to keep both yourself and your fellow riders safe throughout the ride. I would also remind you that this is not a guided ride and each participant remains responsible for their own actions or omissions at all times.
