This brilliant Dick Turpin themed 41 mile route is great for anyone looking for a little bit extra in their ride! What better way to learn about the 'poacher, burglar, horse thief, highwayman and killer' that was Dick Turpin than by bike!
Starting at Redbridge Cycling Centre, the route takes you past many noteable points of Turpin's life. From the forests where along with the Essex Gang, they would poach royal deer and oxen; the farmhouses and estates where he would burgle and rustle horses; through to Epping Forest, where he achieved infamy as a highwayman.
Bringing this route back to the modern day, you will also cover sections of the 2014 Tour de France route. With so much to see along the way as well as getting 40 miles of cycling in your legs this route is certainly not to be missed!
You must be able to average a minimum of 12MPH and please note the 42 mile distance.
No under 12's and under 16's must be accompanied by the adult who has booked them on the ride. Please dress appropriately for the weather on the day. All participants are expected to bring: • A bike in good working order with tyres pumped to the correct pressure.
