Starting point

West Yorkshire
LS20 9PY

We head out of the car park up to West Chevin Road and then down into Otley. We avoid the centre of Otley by following a bridleway to the river bridge and then head up towards Weston. In Askwith we turn up towards the moor road before crossing, and then joining it for a short run into Timble. We go down from there in-between Fewston and Swinsty Reservoirs before climbing up to Fewston Farm Shop just before the busy A59. Suitably refreshed we retrace our steps and cross the edge of Swinsty Reservoir before heading east as far as Beckwithshaw, making our way down, and then up, past Lindley Wood Reservoir. We go through Farnley, past Farnley Hall where descendants of Guy Fawkes still live, and down into Otley. Again missing the busy centre we take a bit of main road as far as Menston before looping round to Guiseley and our start/finish point which is adjacent to the station.

Chance again to feast at Fewston by mainly quiet but hilly roads in the Harrogate District including good views of the golf balls at Menwith Hill and several reservoirs.

The whole route is on road with main road exposure limited and predominantly rolling, and climbing, rural roads for the ride.

We will stop at Fewston Farm Shop which has bike parking, usual facilities, indoor and outdoor seating plus very generous portions. There are also foodstuffs to purchase for those with empty panniers.

Helmets of course along with spare inner tube and either/both sun screen and waterproofs.

We never leave anyone behind
