Meandering to Oxenhope Steam Trains

We will leave Hirst Wood and head through Saltaire to the top of Moorhead Lane for stunning views, and a breather. We will then make our way to Wilsden along Lee Lane before heading towards Hewenden Viaduct on the Great Northern Railway Trail. We will go through Cullingworth and head to the Guide Inn via Keighley Road (no Ryecroft this way) and then down to Crossroads. We will then drop down into Haworth and onwards to Stanbury before climbing up past Lower Laithe Reservoir and getting to Oxenhope via Marsh. After train spotting and refreshments we will climb out of Oxenhope to the Dog & Gun before crossing the desolate moorland leading to Manywells. We will head towards Denholme but drop down Whalley Lane and across the moors surrounding Wilsden before dropping down into Harden, going through St Ives and into Bingley where we will join the canal at Three Rise Locks to return to Hirst Wood.

Visit to Oxenhope Station on KWVR when the steam timetable is running and a different route to previously avoiding roadworks and diversions.

All on road apart from crossing Hewenden Viaduct on the Great Northern Railway Trail , a short stretch through St Ives and canal from Bingley to Hirst Wood. Roads are predominately semi-rural with minimal main road usage.

We will stop at Oxenhope Station on KWVR where we can either sit outside on the platform or inside the restored dining car.

Helmets needed and spare inner tube as well as clothing/sun screen suitable for the forecast.
