Starting point

Cheshire
WA5 0DT

Cycle-friendly paths through Sankey Valley Park and then a brief spell on the roads to access the Trans-Pennine Trail at The Sloop Public House on Liverpool Road. The TPT is then followed to Widnes Marina and then some quiet roads near the Catalyst Museum to access Widnes/ Runcorn bridge to cross the River Mersey. Once on the Runcorn side we then use several quiet streets to avoid local busier roads, to then emerge close to the road that, following a short climb, will take us to the popular Espositos Cafe. After a planned stop we will then descend past Runcorn Fire station to pick up the Bridgewater Canal towpath in Old Runcorn. The towpath through Norton Priory and lovely scenery, is then followed to Sandymore and cycle paths that bypass Moore village. We then briefly follow Manchester Ship Canal and cross Moore Lane Swing Bridge to access a trail across Arpley Meadows and then retrace our route to Sankey Valley Park and Bewsey.

A guided, circular route from Bewsey and Dallam Community Hub taking in Widnes and Runcorn. Stunning views of the River Mersey and Mersey Valley.

This route uses the Trans-Pennine Trail until Widnes marina. Dedicated cycle paths are then used to cross the Jubilee Bridge to Runcorn. Quiet roads are then used to the cafe stop and for the descent to Lower Runcorn. Beyond this, we then cycle on the scenic canal towpath and exit at Sandymore on quiet roads towards Moore. We then take woodland paths towards Acton Grange and re-enter Warrington on the TPT and Road to gain Sankey Valley Park back to our start.

A planned cafe stop at Esposito's in Runcorn Hill Park and stops can be made along the route if people want to take photographs
