This Guided Ride is a beginners mountain bike ride, brought to you by a qualified Fundamentals of Mountain Bike Leader. To deliver rides as per the remit of the Fundamentals of MTB Award, we also hold a valid 2 day outdoor first aid certificate and Safeguarding Course.

Overall the route features some of the interesting trails around Rivington and Winter Hill. On a good day the scenery is stunning, and whilst not very technical, Its probably best suited to a rider with some mountain bike experience on a modern MTB.

From Smithills Hall the route takes us up Coal Pit Rd, when we then get on the slightly rough stuff before descending down to Georges Lane. If we are all feeling fit, we will ride up to Rivington Pike before descending to the Rivington Café via the Chinese Gardens. After the café break, we head back up Winter Hill to traverse Burnt Edge with its stunning views. The route back takes us through Bolton Old Links golf course and Barrow bridge.
