Musselburgh to Rosearista Coffee Shop

We will meet in the car park opposite Tescos at the Hayweights clock and cycle along the shared path alongside the River Esk. We will then cycle into Whitecraig to follow the Smeaton Railway path until we join the Pencaitland Railway path following it and quiet roads to the Rosearista Coffee Shop where we will stop for refreshments. We will return to Musselburgh following the same route.

This is a steady ride of 17 miles. The shared paths are a mixture of tar and gravel with a short section of roadwork. The Railway path is a hard packed surface, it does however get muddy on occasion, depending on recent weather, so is suitable for Mountain bikes,Gravel bikes and Hybrids. We will however be riding on B roads as well. If your not sure if your bike is suitable send me a message and we can have a chat.

Helmets must fit and be worn correctly, lights are advised, be bright and be seen! Please wear clothes appropriate for the weather, bring a drink, a spare inner tube, and a pump and the means to get home if your bike breaks down (taxi / friend etc).

I have allocated 3 hours for this ride. This is an approximate time as it depends on several factors ie weather, any breakdowns, accidents or delays.

As the Edinburgh half marathon is running on this date ensure you leave extra time to arrive for 9.30am

NOTE this is a steady ride where we will ride as a group over uneven terrain and also on roads. The speed is steady and the route is uphill. Experience of riding in groups and at a steady pace is required along with a good level of fitness.
