From the start we'll head East through Edmonton to Picketts Lock and then head North up the River Lee Navigation path to Enfield Lock. We then head west across towards Bull's Cross where we ride up the short hill to Myddelton House Cafe where we'll stop for refreshments. After our stop we'll continue along the Enfield greenway (NCN 12), beside Turkey Brook, through the grounds of Forty Hall and Hilly Fields, up the hill to Strayfield Road, across The Ridgeway and along the cycleway by Salmons Brook, up the hill to Trent Park. Having descended and then ascended to Limes Avenue we'll head along some quiet roads to Oakhill Park and follow the cycleway down along Pymmes Brook to Arnos Park, returning to the start point through Palmers Green.
This circular ride around some of Enfield's most scenic cycle routes is mostly off-road paths and cycleways with some quiet roads and a few small sections of busier roads.
There are some un-paved and gravel sections, but mostly paved surfaces.
It features a few manageable hills, good for those wanting to increase confidence for modest climbs.
We always wait at the top of a climb: you can get off and push if necessary.
This intermediate ride is a step up from the easy/steady rides. Reasonable fitness and good bike handling is required, but we will go at a pace that means no one is ever left behind.
Please wear a helmet and dress for the weather: layers and a waterproof jacket are often appropriate.
Bring water, snacks and money/card for the stop.
Cafe stop at Myddelton House. Toilets at Myddelton House Gardens, Trent Park, Oakhill Park if required.
Please check your bike the evening before to ensure that it is fully functioning, inflated tyres, gears shifting nicely and brakes are working.
