About the route
For those of us who haven't ridden over the winter a gentle tootle from the Cycle HUB on Newcastle Quayside to South Shields following the South Tyne Cycleway, stopping for a cuppa at the coast then returning to the HUB on Hadrian's Cycleway (£1.60 needed for the Tyne Ferry crossing). This ride is approximately 24 mile and has one or two gentle climbs - all welcome but suited to Mountain Bikes, Tourers or Hybrids.
