We will head out of Newport following the cycle path to Maesglas and then up through Tredegar park to get to Tiny Rebel hill which will lead us onto the canal towpath. This path will then lead us all the way to the visitor centre in the forest. After a rest stop we return via the tow path all the way back into Newport near Wickes. We will then follow the riverside cycle path all the way back to the velodrome. This route means that we climb the steady hill by Tiny Rebel brewery rather than tackling the steeper climb to 14 locks.

An out and back ride to Cwmcarn forest visitor centre but with different ways in and out of Newport just to add variety.

The route is mostly traffic free using a mix of cycle paths and canal towpaths. Any roads used are quiet ones.

We will be stopping at the visitor centre in Cwmcarn forest for refreshments.

Please wear a helmet and bring a lock and money for the stop at the visitor centre. It's also worth carrying a spare tube just in case.

We never leave anyone behind
