(0) ReviewsNot Over the Hill does the Pym Valley This is a slightly longer but still an easy-going ride with lots of stops giving time to appreciate the beautiful Plym Valley Trail. The ride is aimed at (but not exclusive to) the 60+ age group who want to return to cycling after an extended period away, for people who may be new to cycle touring or someone who just wants to meet new people. The aim is to promote fitness and build confidence as well as to enjoy a good social ride. The ride starts from the small car park in Clearbrook where we will ride at a steady pace along the Plym Valley Trail towards Plymouth. We will pass through a tunnel (lights are desirable but not essential), cross four spectacular brick viaducts and through the beautiful Plymbridge Woods where we may be lucky enough to see the resident peregrine falcons in Cann Quarry. The route then continues along NCN Route 27 through Coypool, under the busy A38 at Marsh Mills and on to Saltram House where we will have a well-earned café stop. We will return along the same route to finish back in Clearbrook. The only requirements are that you bring a roadworthy bike, a helmet and suitable clothing. Lycra is definitely not a requirement! For your own comfort you may wish to bring refreshments, a light snack and money for the café. Toilets are available at Coypool and Saltram. We ride at the pace of the slowest rider and never leave anyone behind.
