This ride starts and finishes inside Canons Park near the folly temple.
This ride is long and reasonable stamina is required and you should be used to riding long distances of 20 miles prior to attempting this ride. The inclines on this route are manageable. We will wait for you if you cannot keep up with the pace but will be riding at a fairly average speed of 10 mph unless there is an incline. We will wait for you at the top of any inclines.
Our route takes us through Edgware, Mill Hill, West Finchley, Woodside Park, Whetstone, Chipping Barnet, Hadley crossing under M25 cycle route 12 (not maintained well so some sections you will need to walk it) to arrive at Wash Lane towards Water End, Swanley Bar, Little Heath, ontowards Coopers Lane Road to arrrive at Oshwal Centre.
On arrival there are lovely facilities, temple and wedding hall which you can visit, no cafe but if the timing is right festival food will be served from noon onwards. We will stop at the services near M25 for snacks and drink. We will be spending some time at the Oshwal centre before making our way back towards overbridge on A1. We will be going through Borehamwood then towards Edwarebury Lane to our start point. We will allow 6-7 hours for this whole ride. The current Oshwal centre was formerly Hook House bought in 1980. The current office is an original building but the nearby halls and temple is new. Its a lovely green belt estate. If you have not seen this worth it for its architecture (a Jain temple outside India).
If you want to know more about Oshwal community please check out this link. Most oshwals are Jains. https://oshwal.org.uk/about-us/.
Please do not book on this ride in advance if you are not sure you can attend. If the ride is full, we normally do get last minute cancellations, hence put your name on waiting list.
