Starting point

South Yorkshire

Everyone with a working bike is welcome to join the otter-ly amazing, flat and fun adventure from the Canal Basin, as we cycle adjacent to the River Don (Five Weirs Walk Cycle Route) where otters have been photographed and filmed.
We are also going to travel to the Olympic Legacy Park to watch the utterly amazing Sheffield Urban Cyclocross (it’s free to spectate). Then we’ll return to Victoria Quays.
A tiny section of the Five Weirs (between East Coast Road and Stevenson Road) was closed on Monday (September 3, 2018). The advisory route to circumnavigate the closure is confusing, because it implies that we should use the footpath. However, the cycling signs have not been erected.
Anyway, if you’re commuting along the Five Weirs to the start of our ride, you might like to try SCC’s advisory diversion, which is along the footpath. Therefore, turn right on Stevenson Road (at the closure), turn left onto Brightside Lane, just past the Costa Coffee turn left onto East Coast Road, and then turn right onto the Five Weirs.
Hope you enjoy circumnavigating the cycle route closure, especially when there could be an otter-ly amazing surprise.
