Over the hills to Hepworth

A ride for those wanting to venture further and try out some hills..... Our route willtake us out of Fox Valley and through Stocksbridge and Deepcar, where we turn towards Wortley, and take to the lanes out to Hepworth via Wortley, Thurgoland, Oxspring and Penistone. We then pass the Windmills at Birds Edge and drop in to the very scenic surrounding of the Carding Shed at Hepworth. Our cafe stop is the Oil Can is in the Carding Shed. We then climb back out of Hepworth, and up to a very picturesque Hade Edge before sweeping down to the Transpennine Trail to head back to Stocksbridge. (An alternative route on road is available should the trail not be suitable for road bikes due to the time of year) The climbs on this ride are all do-able and no one is ever left behind. We will wait at top of climbs and re-group at junctions. Hills will be climbed at own pace. Please bring a road worthy road or hybrid bicycle, a helmet is recommended also. Please carry with you spare inner tubes, a multi tool and drinks and snacks to help with refuelling. A waterproof is recommended and please wear clothing suited to the changeable Autumn weather. Money for the cafe stop is recommended also. A bike lock is very useful too. If you are arriving in your car, please park outside Full Gas in the car park at Fox Valley.
