BA11 1BL

Live2Ride bike shop, The Old Courthouse Waterloo, Frome (Use BA11 1BL for sat nav directions)

A  longer distance ride designed primarily for the more able/regular rider (you can bring your older children along with you if they are capable of the distance & have a suitable bike)  It is, amazingly, a pretty flat 34 mile route. There is the obligatory stop at 20 miles for coffee & cake at the lovely Pickleberry Coffee Shop at Bratton.   This ride is mainly on lanes but there are a couple of short stretches on busier roads. So you need to be confident about riding on a busier road in heavier saturday traffic.   Starting at the Live2ride bike shop onWaterlooin Frome, we will go through the houses up through the Stonebridge estate & then out toBerkley. We then have to carefully cross the A36 & then head out onto the lanes toward Rudge, Brokerswood & turning off to Penleigh. We then go around the Westbury Leigh bypass & out onto the busier A350 for a short time before turning onto the quietCapps Lane. We will then explore the lanes around Dunge,EastTown, Steeple Ashton & Edington.  Then comes the welcome cake stop & then we head back towardCapps Lane& retrace our steps to Frome. Route map: http://connect.garmin.com/course/5192256   This course is  ideal for those of you who are wanting to increase your mileage or already like longer distance rides. Although not aimed at complete beginners, we will still ride at a pace to suit the slowest rider, so please be prepared to adjust your pace to  enable me to keep the group together. I estimate that the pace will be in the region of 10 - 12 mph  A road bike is the most suitable & it would be beneficial if it has, at least, a rear mudguard. Some of lanes are currently a bit muddy/wet in place.   You are, of course, welcome to cycle just to the tea rooms & then arrange to be collected from there. It’s a good idea to bring a drink and snack, a waterproof, a small bike lock & some CAKE MONEY! Wearing a helmet is advisable; if you don’t have one please do not to worry you can still take part. If you enjoy the bike ride and would like to come again perhaps you could look at buying one. If you have any questions please contact me via the Facebook Page, Breeze NetworkEast Somersetor call 07815 629841 Look forward to seeing you there! Fleur
