Car parking if you need to bring a car can usually be okay within the school grounds depending on how busy it is. Please plan in advance. There is parking nearby in local housing Estates but as it’s a weekday, the car park may be busy but you can also park at Sainsbury’s or Aldi‘s and cycle along to the meeting point. There are toilets on the campus if needed (but please allow sufficient time so that we can leave sharp at 10 am). EH22 2PS

17 mile a route from Dalkeith High School campus to Crossgate Hall and picking up the old Pencaitland railway line to the end, with a little road loop round Pencaitland and back along the line to the start

We will be Cycling on mainly shared paths on the line and a couple of short sections on a quieter Roads. Unless it rains non-stop for the next few days the line is fine for road bikes. On the shared paths we will likely pass walkers, dogs and horses and maybe tiny humans on balanced bikes so please stay safe and keep other users safe also.

We will stop at Hoods Honey Cafe at 11 miles).

Please bring with you the following items: Bike in good and safe working order and well maintained, a helmet is essential, spare inner tube/puncture repair kit, a bike lock if you have one, layers (including a waterproof in case of rain), card or cash payment if you want to buy anything at our café stop. We don’t leave anyone behind but if you find yourself in our position of being unable to continue with the ride for any reason, for example in the event of a puncture or mechanical that cannot be fixed at the roadside then you need a plan for getting back.

We never leave anyone behind
