A challenging 48 mile ride from Prestatyn sea front to Llandudno and up and around the Great Orme, returning to Prestatyn the same way along the coastal path. This is a spectacular coastal ride passing through Rhyl, Pensarn, Llanddulas, Colwyn Bay and Rhos on Sea before reaching the sweeping promenade in Llandudno. We'll make our way along here until we reach Marine Drive where our steady climb up the Great Orme begins. The climb is long but there are flat points and even downhills along the way, so it's never too challenging, and we can stop and admire the views whenever we need a breather. We'll stop for refreshments at the Rest and Be Thankful coffee shop at the highest point of Marine Drive, or if this is too busy we'll take a break here and then descend back in to Llandudno. The descent from here is beautiful with amazing views, and the traffic is one way so we can relax and enjoy the ride.
Most of this ride is traffic-free and on cycle paths, with the exception of the ride up and down Marine Drive, which is usually not too busy and mainly one way. At the moment there is a cycle path diversion on Rhyl promenade, but it's just a short distance where we will have to dismount and wheel our bikes along the pavement.
We never leave anyone behind and welcome all on our rides.
Helmets are mandatory and please remember to bring along a spare inner tube and tools for repairing a puncture. You can also either bring cash/ card to purchase something from the cafe or bring your own snacks. As this is a long summer ride please bring lots of water/ liquid and sun protection, but it's also advisable to bring along some layers as it can be cold on top of the Great Orme and along the coast, even in summer.
