Wakefield District Cycle Forum Wakefield District Cycle Forum is a cycle campaign group who for the past 10 years have provided free guided cycle rides and events to all abilities to encourage everyone in Wakefield to cycle and also provide cycle information on cycle routes, off road cycle routes, cycle maps, health rides, and the Trans Pennine Trail. The Wakefield District Cycle Forum is please to announce the restart of the Pugneys Steady Cycle Ride. We introduce new or rusty riders to the fun of cycling, with a programme of graded guided rides. Start with easy, largely off-road trails, progress through longer rides and then try our strenuous road rides with further to travel before the first essential refreshment stop. No-one gets left behind and you will get guidance before you start to help you judge whether you’re ready for the challenge. The Pugneys Steady Cycle Ride is Social event, with a casual approach. Being 15 miles in distance and is suitable of all the family. We have a drinks stop at Anglers Country Park, which is approximately 8 miles into the ride. We leave Pugneys at 10am on the 2nd Sunday in the month, with this ride running all year. What to bring: No specific requirements, but it is always useful to bring: • Yourself, friends & family • A roadworthy bike • Suitable clothing • A bottle of water • We also recommend that you wear a cycle helmet. WDCF rides are FREE but there may be a charge for the car park. If your coming by car to Pugneys, then its £2.50 for 4 Hours. Booking is not required, just turn up and go, but we are obliged to record contact details for Test & Trace and to maintain social distancing. Steady Rides: If you’re fairly confident on your bike, steady rides are the next step up. Cycling further at a comfortable pace. Duration 3 hours. Distances up to 20 miles The weather doesn’t usually stop a ride but in wet weather some routes may be muddy and uneven. The ride leaders are always waiting at the start point so don’t be put off, just dress for the weather.

80% off road, 20% on short streches of road.
