Join me for a little trip into Shropshire avoiding the Chester Marathon. :-) (Important! If you're traveling from Chester/Wrexham, please check the road closures before traveling.
https://www.activeleisureevents.co.uk/marathon )
We'll start from the carpark at Colemere Lake, there is plenty of free parking but no toilets. We'll head out for a 9 mile loop along quiet, gently undulating pretty country lanes back to our start point. Look out for thatched roofs and wildlife! There's the option to add as many loops as you'd like if you fancy more, or do it again in reverse - you decide :-)
The expected pace will be around 10-12mph
An ideal loop to keep the pedals turning as the weather gets cooler, with some gentle hill practice too! The roads can get a little gravelly/dirty in places - it can be done on skinny tyres but better suited to wider tyres if you have them. E-bikes welcome too!
There's no cafe stop planned but the Boathouse in Ellesmere is only a few miles away if anyone fancies refreshments afterwards. There's a pretty walk around Colemere and a nature reserve just up the road too if you're still feeling energetic and want to explore (not part of the ride though :-) )
If you're unable to make the ride after booking on, no problem, just cancel your place to free it up for someone else. Aim to arrive minutes before so we can go through our safety check and have wheels turning at 10.30
Don't forget the snack, drink, helmet and inner tube suitable for your bike. Any questions, let me know! See you there :-)
