An opportunity to test yourself on Rhiwbina Hill. We'll do a couple of miles on the quieter roads around Rhiwbina first to warm up, then head up the hill!

Everyone will find they have a different pace on the hill, but the route is easy, don't turn off the main road, and we will all regroup at the top. I'll stick at the back of the group.

Rhiwbina Hill is split into 4 sections... after we cross the motorway, the gradient ramps up. I think this is the worst bit, and it's absolutely OK to walk if you need to - now you know what it looks like, you'll come back and conquer it next time! With the worst of it out of the way, there's an easier section to get your breath back before another short sharp climb. The next half mile is easy - you can rest your legs as it's a slight downhill. The third part is from the junction with the Castell Coch road up to the Mountain View Ranch. After this is another flat section before the final climb from the Black Cock Inn to the top. You've done it!

At the top, after we catch our breath, we'll head along as far as the Caerphilly Mountain Snack Bar where we can walk up the path to the mountain-top to see the view we all earned!

We will retrace our path back down Rhiwbina Hill and finish at the Deri Inn with a drink :)

Please come with your helmet, a drink, and a well maintained bike - in particular check that the tyres are inflated and that the brakes are working.
