A ride to Richmond Park to test our legs and lungs. This is not a leisure ride: we will go for 2 laps around Richmond Park which will involve leg-burning hills and some speed! Expect average speeds of 10-12mph – slower on roads where safety is crucial, and a little faster around the park.
We start off going up Old Oak Lane in the direction of Wormwood Scrubs, zig-zagging through mostly quiet roads of Shepherds Bush and Ravenscourt Park until we reach the Thames and Hammersmith Bridge, where we will need to dismount to cross. We get to Richmond Park via Roehampton Gate and take the anti-clockwise direction first, for a full lap (and a bit). We then stop at the café in Pembridge Lodge for lunch, and also to enjoy the beautiful views. Those who don’t want the full challenge will have the option to stay at the café while the rest of us go for one more lap, this time on the clockwise direction so to take on the full challenge of the park!
We leave the park through Sheen Gate in the direction of Mortlake, and carry on via Acton, taking the cycling path along the A40 and back via Harlesden. We aim to be back before 4pm.
