This is a very pretty route along quiet roads including main roads and traffic-free cycle paths.
We head out over the pedestrian bridge at Teddington Lock and cycle through Bushy Park, along the river Thames and through Windsor Great Park to Windsor and the Cinnamon Café for morning coffee. Then over Eton Bridge and along the gorgeous traffic-free NCN4 to Dorney and Bray.
The end point of our ride is Maidenhead station. We will aim for the 12:45pm fast train to Paddington (29mins). The next fast train is an hour later at 13:45pm.
This route is not completely flat but gently rolling around Windsor Great Park! It is suitable for (lightweight) road bikes. We will aim for an 11-12mph/18-20kph Strava average over the distance, riding at pace of the slowest. We are keen to catch the 12:45 from Maidenhead.
Please ensure that your bicycle is in excellent working order: tyres pumped to 90-100psi, chain cleaned and lube'd, nothing squeaking or rattling (sign of a problem!) etc. And please do bring along 2 small 500ml, or one large 750ml water bottle and a snack. The Cinnamon Café is at 29miles, and we shall stop at approx. 23miles (Savill Garden in Windsor Great Park) if we need to, for a comfort break / water refill !
