From the A66, turn onto the B6280 Yarm Road and turn right into Morton Park. At the small roundabout near the Morrisons petrol station, turn right onto Morton Park Way then left at the mini roundabout to head into the Morrisons / B&Q complex. At the next mini roundabout, turn left and head towards B&Q. Our start/finish point is at the front of the B&Q store. There is a large car park here for both B&Q and Morrisons which currently has no restrictions.

This year’s summer challenge ride!

You voted, we delivered! In this year’s Rider’s Choice, you voted for a Coastal destination. For this ride, we’ll take in the long ride to the coast!

The route for this ride will be a little over 50 miles, the route and destination will not be revealed until the day of the ride. The ride will start and finish outside B&Q on Morton Park.

This ride is classed as a CHALLENGING ride at slightly over 50 miles. The ride is undulating and will contain some hill climbs. The ride is all on the road or cycleways – because of the distance, only road bikes or hybrids with thinner tyres recommended for this ride (e-bikes with larger tyres will also be fine). No Mountain Bikes. This ride is suitable only for experienced riders who are comfortable sustaining around 12mph avg. and can continually cycle for around 3 hours each way. The stopover point on the ride will be 30mins – 1 hour. Bear in mind these times are a guide, and the ride can take longer, particularly with a longer distance.

This is a long ride and will take several hours. You should not plan to do anything else on this day. Remember to bring along plenty to drink and wear sun protection in sunny weather. The stopover point on the coast will give enough time to get something to eat. Prepare for the ride properly and you’ll have a great day!

A brilliant ride to the coast!
