Join us for our summer family bike ride series, including a trip to a local play park! You and your kids will enjoy an easy-going bike ride along a local cycling route and stop off at a local play park. They get time to play, you get time to relax and refresh, then it’s time to ride back to the start.

Starting from the Beefeater Pub at Morton Park, we follow the cycle network north past Amazon, then turn west and follow the National Cycle Network route 14 towards Darlington Town Centre. We snake through the cycleways and stopover at North Lodge Park. We stop off at the play park here for a short while, then head back to the Beefeater by following the outgoing route in reverse.

This ride is classed as an EASYGOING ride which is just over 6 miles in total. The ride is mostly flat, there is a short climb to get up over the green bridge over the A66. The ride is all on cycleways, the old railway line is gravel – all bike types suitable for this ride. This ride is suitable for adults and children who are competent bike riders (no stabilisers) and can cycle comfortably for around 30 mins at a time. At the play park, the stopover will be around 30 mins. We recommend bringing snacks/food for yourself and ensure you have plenty to drink. Bear in mind these times are a guide and the ride can take longer.
