From the A66, turn onto the B6280 Yarm Road and turn right into Morton Park. At the small roundabout near the Morrisons petrol station, turn right onto Morton Park Way then left at the mini roundabout to head into the Morrisons / B&Q complex. At the next mini roundabout, turn left and head towards B&Q. Our start/finish point is at the front of the B&Q store. There is a large car park here for both B&Q and Morrisons which currently has no restrictions.

Starting point

Durham
DL1 4WD

Join us on the day after Summer Solstice for a late evening bike ride to take in the sunset. We start from outside B&Q at Morton Park and follow the route via Haughton and Five Arches, through North Park and along the Faverdale Black Path before riding up onto the top of West Park and taking in the sunset. We’ll then ride down to The White Heifer pub for a little stopover, before taking the route in reverse back to B&Q, or you can peel off and make your own way home.

Remember you’ll need lights on your bike and you may need to wear clothing suitable for cooler weather, as once the sun goes down, it will be cooler, even at this time of year.

Ride to see the sunset! A great ride with a great vantage point to watch the sun go down on the longest day of the year.

All on the roads or cycleways.

A stopover at West Park to watch the sunset, but no cafe stops on this ride.

Helmets essential. Lights for when it starts to get dark.

First-timers welcome!
