LE1 5BP

Part of the ESRC Festival of Social Science, this ride explores the hometown haunts of one of the twentieth century’s greatest playwrights.

See where Joe Orton grew up, visit his local library and find out what books he borrowed, stop at the theatre that inspired his passion for drama, enjoy extracts from his unpublished teenage diary and discover his legacy in the city.

Dr Emma Parker, University of Leicester, will explore how growing up in Leicester shaped Orton’s life and work. The ride ends at the University, with a chance to delve into the Joe Orton archive.

All participants will receive a free Joe Orton tote bag from the University of Leicester.

Please bring a bike lock with you if you have one.
