Discover where acclaimed 1960s playwright Joe Orton grew up, explore his local library and find out what books he borrowed, stop at the theatre that inspired his passion for drama, hear extracts from his unpublished teenage diary and uncover his legacy in the city. Dr Emma Parker, University of Leicester, will explain how growing up in Leicester shaped Orton’s life and work.

We also have a limited number of cycles available for loan to use on this led ride. The loans are free of charge and include a helmet if required. Loan bikes must be booked in advance and by 10pm on Wednesday 6th August at the latest, unfortunately any requests received after this date cannot be accommodated. Email [email protected] to enquire about a cycle loan and a member of our team will get back to you. Please also ensure that you have registered for a place on this ride.

Please bring a bike lock with you if you have one.
