Copped Hall is a Georgian mansion which was abandoned by its owner many decades ago, but which is now being restored by a Trust. It is superbly sited on a ridge overlooking its landscaped parkland. The mansion is visible from the M25 which passes through a corner of the park. The mansion and gardens are situated on a site of ancient human habitation. Important buildings were demolished when the present mansion was built.

We meet at Cutty Sark Gardens and start by cycling up the Regent's Canal to the QE Park. We then follow a section of the Dunwich Dynamo route which takes us into Epping Forest. We can then follow a traffic free cycle path through the heart of Epping Forest which takes us to Copped Hall, which will be holding an open day. We stay there for a couple of hours (entry costs £10) to walk round the stalls, visit the house and extensive gardens and have lunch. We then return by cycling across to the Warlies, Upshire and Waltham Abbey before following the Lee Valley towpath and the Regent's Canal back to Cutty Sark Gardens.
