Ride to Stapleford

We'll meet at the Tawny Owl in Fernwood, where those arriving by car can park. We'll ride mainly on flat countryside roads with fantastic views of the Nottinghamshire countryside. The ride will suit hybrid or road bike. MTB will be hard work on this route. We will start off with a couple of non-major roundabouts and will then be on flat roads heading towards the beautiful village of Claypole, from which we will cycle through onto open country roads heading towards Stubton. We will take a left turn and head to Beckingham through Fenton Claypole. As we go through Beckingham village we have the A17 to cross via foot to continue our ride to Norton Disney and Bassingham. We have the 5 bells pub at Bassingham as a potential stop for tea. From here we do a lovely loop back to Norton Disney and then through Stapleford and head to Coddington. There is the roundabout on the A17 to go across. We go down Coddington hill towards Balderton where we pick up Hollowdyke Lane back to the Tawny Owl. This ride is perfect for those who are already confident out on the road, its an intermediate ride. We will always ride at the pace of the slowest rider so no one is left behind. We really welcome newcomers to our rides.  It's a good idea to bring some water and you may also want to bring a snack if you think your energy levels may need topping up along the way.  Wearing a helmet is compulsory on this ride. Please bring some money if you want to buy refreshments.
