Romsey Breeze: Exploring Upper & Lower Ratley

From Braishfield we pass through Timsbury and, after a short spell on the A27, turn right and join the B3084 until the Ratley turning. Follow round to Kimbridge then cross the A27 and, passing the 'Bear and Ragged Staff' pub go up the hill and along the road through Michelmersh and back to Braishfield.

Upper and Lower Ratley are two hamlets on a narrow wooded back-road connecting Awbridge Danes to the B3084. One can just about see a small lake dug during the inter-war depression to give destitute people some work. It is probably now used for private fishing.
