Saltash Discovery

We will meet in the car park at the Tamar Bridge where there is 4 hours free parking and toilets.
The route is across the bridge and up the main street taking the road for St Stephens. We stop and look around the back of the St Stephens Church and by going along Farm Lane we can look at Churchtown Nature reserve ( similar to Mt Edgecombe )
We then go down a steep hill into Forder Village and travel out to Antony Passage to look at Jupiter point. From here we travel steadly uphill to Trematon Castle. We then travel back to Saltash along the Old Road and take a coffee break at Saltmill Park.
After coffee we carry along to Saltash Passage for a look at the Cornish view of the bridge. Finally we carry on back to our start point looking at the Celtic Cross and the Rememberance park.

This is a scenic and historic ride across into Cornwall. The route is not long but has some steep hills ( downhill ) so good brakes are important. Where there any difficult climbs we can walk and wait for riders at the top of the hill.

Some of the route is urban but uses on road cycle paths. There are some country lanes which are usually quiet with local people walking along the scenic roads. Across the tamar bridge care must be taken leaving the cyclepath onto the road due to the steep gradient and metal bollards

There are stops for viewing points of interest such as nature reserves, parks and castles. A coffee stop is planned at Saltmill Park and maybe Saltash passage as Covid restrictions allow.

Helmets , Waterproof coat, mask and money, also money and spare inner tube and pump.
