Starting from - The bridge car park but bear in mind, this ride will take longer than the permitted free parking time, so perhaps use Normandy or Pemros road street parking. Alternatively, use the Saltash Leisure centre free parking. If you choose the latter, we can pick you up there or you can cycle across the bridge to the primary meeting spot.(5 minutes) Be sure to let me know if you are using the Leisure centre.
Toilets at both the bridge car park and the Leisure centre. PL12 6ER

Starting point

Cornwall and Isles of Scilly
PL12 6ER

If it's dry, (decision the evening before), we'll ride a scenic route from Saltash to Seaton (Cornwall) Mostly quiet lanes apart from the initial stretch from Carkeel to Hatt. If it's quiet, we'll use the main road, if not we'll divert around Botus Fleming. Either way, from Hatt roundabout, we shall saunter to Pillaton, over Clapper bridge and from there up a long hill to Blunts. Then downhill to Tideford Cross, cross the A38 and head towards St Germans, climbing another hill.
Just before St. Germans, we'll divert right towards Trerulefoot, cross the A374 and head past the Bond timber firm til we get to the A387 which we will cross and head towards Narkurs.
Before we get there we'll bear right and go through Deviock and then downhill on a verdant (aka mossy) narrow track to Seaton seafront.
After a well-earned breather your packed lunch, tea/coffee and perhaps a cake, we can return via Downderry, (another long hill), Crafthole, Anthony and Torpoint. We will run out of land here, so will zip across the Hamoaze on the ferry (another rest) before heading up through Devonport, past HMS Drake, St. Budeaux and up Pemros Rd to the start point. We should be back no later than 15.30
*Please note that there are a number of hills on this route with a total elevation of 2,775 feet. Notably, Clapper to Blunts is 400ft in about a mile;, the road after we cross the main road to Looe, climbs gradually to 450ft before the descent into Seaton; and the ascent from Downderry up to the coast road to Crafthole adds a further 425ft. If you’re on an e-bike, consider its range, if not, these are strenuous hills! I’ve done this ride on both.
