Starting point

Miola Abbeyfields Lodge Rd, Sandbach

Suitable for Hybrid & Mountain Bikes From Miola's we take the Salt Line which lies just south of Sandbach (M6 junction 17) and is a 3km route following the line of a disused railway, of which 2.5 km (11/2 miles) is a well surfaced trail. Predominantly flat and in some parts raised on embankments, it cuts through farmland and woodland as it runs towards Alsager. The Salt Line is mostly wooded along its length and is interspersed with areas managed as open glades and coppice.   The Borrow Pit Meadows near Alsager is adjacent to the Salt Line and both sites are linked by access points and paths. The Borrow Pit Meadows are about 16 hectares / 40 acres in size with  2kms/ 11/4 miles of well surfaced undulating paths, with a further 1km /5/8 mile of unsurfaced paths. It is a mosaic of habitats including meadows, woodland, wetland, grassland, farmland and scrub. With benches located at regular points along the surfaced routes, it is ideal for quiet recreation on foot or bike and will also be of interest.   We then return to Sandbach for a well earned coffee & cake and a natter at Miola's. Suitable for Women & Teenagers   Wearing a helmet is advisable; if you don’t have one please don't worry you can still take part, but if you plan on doing more rides it may be worth investing in one for your added safety.  Dress appropriately for the weather: in cool weather it's good to wear lots of thin layers, so you can add/remove them as needed; a rain jacket is a good idea too.   Please bring along a puncture repair kit/spare inner tube - Breeze leaders will try and help you out, but are not responsible for your bike.   Breeze really welcomes new riders, bring a friend or come on your own - don't worry if you don't know anyone, we're a friendly bunch. Its a great way to get back on your bike and join like-minded women, get fit and make some new friends along the way, we always ride at the pace of the slowest rider so no one is left behind!    Look forward to meeting you.   Don’t forget…. Breeze are on a mission to spread the word about their rides, and  need your help. If you introduce one friend who goes  on to take part in a Breeze ride, you’ll receive a Breeze water bottle,  introduce a second  friend, you’ll be the proud owner of one of their swish Breeze  Buffs, and introduce a  third friend and Breeze will send you £15 of Love2Shop vouchers.  Read the article on the homepage for more information.
