Starting point

Cheshire
WA5 0DU

Our route passes south through Sankey Valley Park to its end at the A57. We then cross this road by the David LLoyd Centre and re-enter the park to follow the path to Old Liverpool Road. Once across this road, we gain the TPT (Trans-Pennine Trail) route and follow it for several miles to Widnes. Once at Widnes Marina we pass the Catalyst Museum and the surrounding quiet streets, to gain the cycle path over Runcorn/Widnes Jubilee Bridge and see the panoramic views of the River Mersey and Cheshire.
Once of the Runcorn side, we follow the shared cycle paths to our destination, The Brindley which overlooks the Bridgewater Canal

A lovely scenic ride on the Trans-Pennine trail. We use mostly flat cycle paths alongside St Helens Canal and the River Mersey estuary towards Widnes. Passing the Catalyst Museum, we then cross the Jubilee Bridge and head to the cafe stop at The Brindley Arts Centre, overlooking the Bridgewater Canal for a coffee. The return journey retraces our outward route.

Mostly traffic-free riding on cindered paths. Where we briefly encounter road junctions, we use pedestrian crossings and regain the paths.

Cafe Stop in The Brindley cafe. Stops can also be taken along the group if people want to take photographs

Please remember to bring suitable clothing, particularly gloves and warm layers. A basic tool kit and spare inner-tubes, puncture outfit or tyre sealant. Mobile phone and money or card if purchasing a drink/ food at the cafe. Helmets are mandatory if U-18 Years.

First-timers welcome!
