Hello, I'm cycling from Santander to Valencia via Madrid from 2 October 2018.
I'm doing it alone but I wanted to open it out to anyone who enjoys cycle touring. I'm not a speedy cyclist, generally plod along around 12 to 15mph.
I'm getting the 1715 ferry over to Santander on 2 October 2018 from Portsmouth which costs £135 with a cabin. I will mix camping with some hotels along the way, depending on price and how i'm feeling. Spain's hotels are generally quite cheap. There are shops, restaurants, bars, campsites en route so no amenities shouldn't be an issue on the way.
I plan to do this over a two and half weeks, but allowing three weeks in total to get to Valencia.
Santander - Burgos - Madrid - Valencia - With a lot of random Spanish towns and villages in between!!!
The route is a bit of everything, mountains, countryside. the route i've planned are on Spain's quieter roads.
Below is a link which shows the route, I've highlighted shops, campsites, some hotels and restaurants.

an idea of how fit you need to be, the aim is to do a minimum of 50 miles a day. The may be less in mountainous terrain, but more if the terrain is friendly.
If you are interested, I'm based in London and would be happy doing some cycles before hand!!
Thanks
Dean
