Starting point

Tyne and Wear
NE6 1AP

Our social rides are open to all and offer a very friendly welcome to newcomers.

This ride will head up the south side of the Tyne and cross Scotswood Bridge on the way to Lemington. From there it is a short, steep climb as we head Woolsington on tracks of varying quality. There is a road section past the airport before we continue to Ponteland on gravel tracks, where we will stop for something to eat.

The return is first along the Reivers Way until past Dinnington where we will head south back towards Bankfoot and then down Denton Burn. A short ride down the north side of the Tyne will bring us back to the Hub.

Total distance will be around 31 mile, including some hills, and the average speed will be around 10 mph. Please ensure you are comfortable with this level before signing up.

Helmets are recommended and please ensure you carry sufficient water and snacks, and preferably a spare inner tube in case of punctures.

Participants are eligible for reduced bike hire at £5 per ride or to buy a bike by paying £10pw and pick a bike from the Hub catalogue then after 20 weeks the bike is theirs (if it is a £200 bike). To book a bike please contact the Hub on 0191 2767250 and give at least 24 hours notice.

If anyone is unable to sign up for any reason then either turn up on the day or send me a text on 07914 852 638.
