Cycling Centre

Shells, Bells and Velodromes, starts at the hub of Bournemouth Cycling - Bournemouth Cycling Centre, with it's steeply banked, Olympic style 250m outdoor velodrome. You may witness the track cyclists racing round, or get to ride round the inner flat area of this fantastic facility. From the Cycling Centre, the ride meanders out through Suburban Bournemouth, to the stunning views across the Solent from the cliff tops of the city. En route, take time to decide which house you want to buy, as the standard of properties slowly increases as the ride goes on, ranging from traditional mansion, to darn right contemporary. As the ride descends to the Sandbanks peninsula, look up a gaze upon some of the near Mediterranean views across the harbour. The ride will pause near half distance and give riders a chance to feel sand in their toes at the Sandbanks Beach Cafe, you can choose to have an extra cuppa or ice cream, or the more athletic can do a lap of the peninsula itself. From here the ride follows to coast round to Poole Harbour so pause and take time to gaze back across to Sandbanks. The ride then heads inland, back along some quiet & majestic Bournemouth roads, before returning to the hub of Bournemouth Cycling. If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour.
