The ride will start from the car park at Sherdley Park, St Helens and we head out towards Sutton Manor Woodland Park, where, in the distance, you may catch a glimpse of the iconic Dream sculpture from the road (which we don’t visit on this occasion). We stay mainly on main roads and head out towards Warrington accessing the traffic free Sankey Valley Park at Great Sankey. We cross the busy A59 at Winwick to take the road through Croft Village which takes us past HMP Risley and on to our cafe stop at Partridge Lakes Coarse Fishery in Culcheth. Our return journey takes us back through Croft, the historic Vulcan Village and around Burtonwood village, past the Brewery and back to our start at Sherdley Park via the newly created CYCLOPS roundabout on Marshalls Cross Road.

A mainly road ride from Sherdley Park St Helens to the coarse fishery at Partridge Lakes, Culcheth near Warrington.

A route mostly on hard surfaced, sometimes busy, main roads with no major climbs.

Our refreshment stop will be at Partridge Lakes Coarse Fishery at Culcheth; a great, bike friendly café with plenty of seating inside or out and great views over the coarse fishing lakes. Make sure you bring along money for your food (and food to feed the fish!) but, if you prefer, bring your own packed lunch and drinks. Or the other alternative: there is an ice cream van in the park on your return to Sherdley Park if you need an ice cream fix!

All riders will be required to wear a helmet and carry spare inner tubes and the means to be able to repair a puncture (assistance will be provided if required).

It is essential that everybody enjoys the ride (we are The Friendly Cyclists, after all!); like most of our rides, it will be at an average pace of 9 -11mph but the actual pace will be determined by the overall pace of the group on the day. Always remember, we will never leave anyone behind!
