A short ride of 10 miles, suitable for beginners or ladies wanting to regain their confidence and get back on their bikes. The route is mainly flat and uses several traffic-free cycleways - no busy roads (apart from the odd one that we will walk across using pedestrian crossings.) Starting from South Hill Park, we'll head through Jennetts Park, passing Easthampstead Park School, along the new cycleway on South Road to Nine Mile Ride cycleway. We'll cross over to Buckler's Park, have an optional loop around the trails in Buckler's Forest and stop for a coffee break at the new Stables Cafe, which has a selection of cakes, pastries and great coffee or tea. If you are feeling up to it - I can add a few more miles around Crowthorne after coffee, otherwise we will return down Wooden Hill, to Birch Hill and back to South Hill Park.
Mainly on paved cycleways with a short section on off-road trails in Bucker's Forest (but we don't need to ride them if it's too muddy!) Suitable for any type of bike as long as it is roadworthy.
You must please wear a cycle helmet and bring with you: a bottle of water, cash or card to pay for refreshments at the cafe, a spare inner tube for your bike and a pump and bike lock if you have them. Please check your bike in advance, especially: tyres inflated to the correct pressure (makes cycling easier!), both brakes working and oil on your chain.
We especially welcome newbies!
