UB1 3BT

We will start in the park, and once we feel comfortable cycling together we will be going out on a fairly flat route taking us onto a residential road, along a shared path, to the Grand Union canal towards Bulls Bridge then head west along the canal towards Birmingham, then turn off to take the Slough arm which we will follow til Langley. We will then pick up National Cycle Route 61 and go through Ditton Park, Upton Court Park, then a short stretch along a busy B road then we turn off and find ourselves cycling by the side of the Jubilee River across the fields to Eton and then up to Windsor Castle.
We will return via The Long Walk, Dachet and then back through Ditton Park back to the canal, about 33 miles in total. However if anyone feels they don’t want to cycle back you have the option to take the train from Windsor and Eton Central (change at Slough) then back to Southall.
There may be some refurbishment works to the canal towpath on the main section between Bull’s Bridge and the Slough Arm, there will be signposted diversions which we will follow on the day.

This is a longer ride for women who don’t ride very often, or have recently learned and want to practice, and want to become more confident – an improvers ride starting from Southall Park.

We will stop as frequently on the way as we need to give ourselves a bit of a rest, to keep ourselves hydrated and to check in how we are all doing. And we will have at least 1 hour before we start the ride back. Please bear in mind that there are fewer places with public toilets open, however, we do pass a Tescos superstore before we turn on to the Grand Union Slough Arm, which may have toilets for customers to use. And there are toilets In Windsor.

You are encouraged to bring your own bottle(s) of water or drink, and there is a café or two in Windsor so we can decide on the day if we want to stop for refreshments or just take a socially distanced rest ie - a chance for us to get to know each other better. Please check that your bike is in working order with the tyres pumped up, and bring a spare inner tube that fits your tyres. You will also need to bring your own mask/face covering in case you need to go into a café or shop, and hand sanitizer. If you want, you can bring some money/cards so you can buy yourself refreshments or bring something to drink/eat. A bicycle lock is useful, but not essential. Don’t worry if you don’t have a helmet, you can still ride with us.

We never leave anyone behind
