A fifth Saturday is a very special day in the calendar of those who cycle in Southwark. On the face of it, as there are 7 days in a week and five weeks makes 35 days and no month has 35 days in it, it would appear that there would never be 5 Saturdays in a month. However, on closer inspection, it can be shown that this is not always the case.

Normally there are strict rules we must follow if we want to get lots of people to come on our rides, but on a fifth Saturday anything can happen! It is a day when we can take the helm of a ride and make it boldly go where no ride has been to before. Like Heineken, we can reach parts that other rides cannot reach - so on this occasion we will be visiting Teddington Lock.

We meet for this ride at Dulwich Clock Cafe in Dulwich Park and start by cycling to Clapham Common, Wimbledon Park and Wimbledon Common. We then cycle through Richmond Park and past Ham House to join up with the Thames Path. We then do a loop around the Thames, crossing at Teddington Lock. On our way back we plan to stop off for lunch at the Barmy Arms, a riverside pub in Twickenham (https://www.greeneking-pubs.co.uk/pubs/middlesex/barmy-arms/).

We then return via Putney, Battersea Park and Clapham Common to Dulwich Park, where the ride finishes.
