Please note the change of starting point. We will meet at Acton Central Station, not Ealing Town Hall.

This is a train-assisted ride to a unique botanical garden in Enfield https://www.visitleevalley.org.uk/myddelton-house-gardens where we will hope to enjoy the flowering crocuses and other early bulbs in all their glory.

We will take the first off-peak London Overground train which departs Acton Central at 9.27am, to Hackney Central (a train journey of approx. 45 mins). Then we have a ride of 20km/12.5 miles, going across Hackney into the Lea Valley, where we join the towpath on the west side of the River Lea, and follow it northwards to Enfield. This is an extraordinary landscape of marshlands, fields with livestock grazing, and reservoirs, with a really rural feeling, despite the dense urban areas immediately around it. We leave the river at Enfield Island and ride a short distance through parks and quiet roads to reach Myddelton House Gardens.

We will park our bikes in the bike stands and explore the gardens on foot. The gardens contain many features of horticultural and historical interest, and are especially well-known for their bulbs.

After a stroll around the gardens and refreshments in the café, we will ride a short distance (3.4km/ 2 miles) to Enfield Town to take the train back to Liverpool Street (40 mins) where we will connect to the Elizabeth Line back to Ealing Broadway (another 45 mins).

Please do not attend if you have any Covid-19 symptoms or are currently advised to self-isolate.
