Stanley Ferry to War Horse Mill Pond Meadows

Starting at Stanley Ferry we join the canal towpath, crossing over the canal at the first swing bridge then heading Left towards Altofts along the canal side.

Following the canal for 3 miles we turn Right to head up through Altofts and Normanton on the Wakefield Wheel.

We follow the Wakefield Wheel route over the old Sharlston Open Cast Mines. We turn Left along High Street onto Wakefield Road to Featherston Lions Rugby Club with access to The War Horse Memorial Sculpture.

The Memorial is a commemoration for WW1 fallen.

Our return journey is on road via Warmfield then onto trails dropping down through South Washlands Woods and on to Stanley Ferry.

This ride is a mix of trails, minor and main roads. Confidence riding on rides is required. We will ride as a group and no one is left behind.

CYCLE HELMETS ARE A MUST
You will not be permitted to take part in the ride without a correctly fitting bike helmet.
BIKE LIGHTS: are in must throughout Winter & Autumn months and also late evening rides.

BIKE CHECK
A BIKE CHECK WILL BE CARRIED OUT ON ALL BIKES PRIOR TO THE RIDE.
You will not be ped to take part in the ride if your bike is not sound and roadworthy.
Please ensure you check your bike prior to arriving for the ride.

WINTER MONTHS CYCLING - During the winter months depending on weather conditions we may unfortunately need to cancel a ride due to safety reasons.
