Steady Sunday morning to Bassenthwaite lake & back

Week 1 we will leave Cockermouth via Castlegate onto Isel road & undulate along the back of Setmurthey past the Distillery before turning back towards town, passing through Embleton on the way. Week 2 We will leave Cockermouth via Strawberry How out towards Wythop, drop down to The Pheasant Inn, Cross the A66 pass the Sailing Club before looping back past the Ouse Bridge, the Distillery and along to Isel Bridge & back into town. Week 3 a variation on week 1. Helmets are essential, a spare inner tube useful, comfortable clothing – a waterproof if wet, some water & a snack are advisable. Money for cake & coffee at the end a good idea! All of the route is on good tarmac roads. The ride is suitable for beginners, wanting to stretch their legs a bit further, ladies returning to cycling or more experienced riders out for a sociable ride. We will ride at the pace of the slowest rider so no one is left behind. The aim being to have an enjoyable ride in the company of other women.
